If you’re a New Yorker who loves culture and is looking to have a good time, you’re in luck! Check out this new website

New Yorkers have this thing going on, where they believe that their city is the epicenter of the world (which it kind of sort of is, though I hate to admit it). They have the best restaurants, the best clubs, the most interesting people. It is a city of culture. That’s why a modern dating site devoted to quintessential NYC dating experience is going to be, in my humble opinion, super successful: instead of matching personalities, it matches you based on the dates you’d like to go on. Innovative, no?

New York magazine has paired up with HowAboutWe.com to create nymag.howaboutwe.com, which allows single New Yorkers to choose dates based on outings they themselves might enjoy, such as: “Why don’t we down some cheap beers at Hogs & Heifers before seeing Rock of Ages on Broadway and then capping the night with some candy and whiskey at Dive on 75?” (Or, in Laura world, dinner at Cherin, Rock of Ages on Broadway or seeing Florence + the Machine at SummerStage in Central Park followed by some delicious strawberry vodka at Mama‘s on Ave. B).

This is a cool concept. The website will not only have a list of great activities, but allow you to choose from them in order to make a good connection. To make everything a bit easier, certain ideas will be featured in the “How About We” section, from users’ actual profiles.

Instead of pairing you up personality-wise, the website aims to set you up with a guy who enjoys similar interests — which is no mean fete in NYC, especially for someone with as many eclectic interests as I have.

Although I have zero interest in moving back to the Big Apple, I suspect it might have made my dating life a little bit easier to know that a straight guy loves hairband musicals, good whiskey, jukeboxes and dive bars as much as I do.

C’est la vie! Some cities have all the luck.
