Kristine Gasbarre explores how Americans are different from their international counterparts in her new book How to Love an American Man: A True Story

I apologize in advance for writing this so close to our most patriotic holiday, but I have never, ever had a thing for American men. It’s no secret that I’ve always thought I’d end up with a Brit. All that rubbish about ghastly teeth and a frigid demeanor is all BS. Sure, Brits are cool – it takes longer to crack the surface — but I’ve found that when I go for an American with a similar exterior, he just ends up being cold. So, given my Anglophilia, I’m probably not the best person to comment on why American boys are so damn great. It’s a good thing, then, that Kristine Gasbarre can do the job for me. In her new book, How to Love an American Man: A True Story, the author explores who the American guy is, and why you should love him. Unfortunately for my Englishman-loving self, none of these qualities actually appeal. But they might to you — so read on if you like nothing better than a guy with a thing for barbecuing, baseball and boobs. more…

…and what country is most forgiving of cheaters? Check out the findings of this new Zoosk survey

Even if you don’t practice it because you’re a die-hard cheater, chances are you’ve been brought up to believe in fidelity. You can appreciate that there is one woman for every man, one man for every man or one woman for every woman. However, those in other countries don’t necessarily have similar beliefs. So where in the world will you be most likely to find a culture where monogamy isn’t the chosen way of life and where one partner could more readily forgive the other for cheating? more…

Italian women certainly seem to be happy…is it because they live their lives by La Bella Figura?

Italian women are doing something right. I say this not simply because my family is partially Italian and I feel like boasting about it, but with a divorce rate of 12% to America’s 50%, the Italian way of living, otherwise known as “La Bella Figura”, seems to be working in their favor. But what is Bella (other than a character in Twilight, of course)? more…

If you really want to meet a man on Port Douglas, go on…take the plunge (and by plunge I mean dive)

I promised you that today I’d tell you all about the infamous allure of scuba instructors, and you should know by now that I always make good on my promises. So here’s a bold statement I’m confident enough to make: if you want to meet a man in Queensland, run to the marina and book yourself a Quicksilver Reef Tour immediately. Go on then, what are you waiting for? more…

Want to travel in style like the celebs do? Here’s how!

It’s always seemed pretty goddamn unfair to me that celebrities — who have more moolah than most of us — are constantly gifted with designer freebies when they can afford to pay. But hey, those are the perks of being famous! Check out the gorgeous travel gear that celebs like Nicole Kidman, bestie Naomi Watts, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Trachtenberg and Vanessa Hudgens (above) picked up at the Independent Spirit Awards LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge in Santa Monica, Calif. just one day before Oscar Sunday. Yes, you might be pea green with envy — but you also have the option of picking up these luxurious travel togs for yourself…for a price, of course. Sigh. Some girls have all the luck! more…

If you meet a man on one of your journeys and every bone in your body says you’re meant to be, give love a chance!

We’ve been brought up to believe that fairytales do exist. We women are Sleeping Beauty, who, with one kiss, will awaken from a deep, sorrowful slumber. We are Belle, who has the power to turn a Beast into the man he never knew he could be. We are Ariel, who made a man fall in love though she could not speak (though that’s less of a fairytale and more of what men are looking for these days, especially in LA). We have been raised on a feast of romantic comedies, where the girl always gets her guy and they live happily ever after. Is it any wonder we want that same big love for ourselves? more…

Three cheers (or more) for National Drink Wine Day!

Believe it or not, National Drink Wine Day does exist. Why do we celebrate such a seemingly unmerited holiday? Why ask why, LoveTrekkers? The answer, quite simply, is because we can! So whether you’re at home sipping on a glass of cabernet, in Santa Barbara County Wine Country drinking anything but “f***ing merlot”, throwing a naked wine party in Hood River, Oregon (yes, this actually does exist) or tempting your tastebuds with chianti in Chianti, Italy (and if you are, you are one lucky bitch), I hope you’re enjoying today. So in honor of NDWD, I decided to make a list of the bottles best able to get you in the mood. How’s that for love, huh? Cheers! more…

Not everyone needs chocolate and diamonds to fete the day of love…

Love is the international language, after all, so it’s unsurprising that other countries celebrate Valentine’s Day. However, not everyone around the world thinks of Feb. 14 as the day of chocolate, red roses and giant teddy bears. So how do others around the world fete the day of love and romance? more…

Which hotels and resorts inspire love and romance come Valentine’s Day?

When you picture your ideal Valentine’s Day destination, what do you see? Are you snuggled up to your fantasy man wearing nothing but a string bikini somewhere tropical? Are you cuddled up by a fireplace as snow falls outside by a mountain? Whatever your wish, I’m fulfilling your desire — because I’ve found the ten best hotels to stay at for love, romance and s-e-x this Feb. 14. So where will you be staying while you’re busy getting some loving? more…

Clearly a guy came up with this list — but it’s worth checking out if you’re into that sort of thing…

Sex and love are not the same thing, so please don’t confuse them. However, love encompasses sex, which is why I thought it was worthy of posting. And really, if you’re a sexual beast (and even if you’re not), it’s best to keep yourself  informed about such things, right? So take a gander at AskMen.com’s list of the top 10 beaches to have sex on. Hey, at the very least, you’ll know where the boys are — and at the worst, you’ll have a sense of what’s most important to men! Just, you know, keep this little adventure clean. These kind of escapades can get dirty…and not in the good way!
