In honor of yesterday’s National Kissing Day, here are some straight facts about locking lips

In case you’ve never heard of it (I hadn’t), yesterday was National Kissing Day, so here’s hoping you had someone to smooch (I didn’t, unless you count the 85 year old man that asked me out at the gym before limping off on his cane, which I don’t, thank you very much). Because I’m doing so little lip locking, I have much more time on my hands to find random facts about something others are doing plenty of (in the name of celebration of course). Never say never — hope is not lost

Forget Rosalia — my middle name should be ‘late to the party.’ Why? Well, as I was perusing Craigslist last night (ostensibly to help someone find an apartment but also to find myself a beach cruiser) I noticed the ‘Missed Connections’ section. Isn’t the thought that a guy noticed you enough to take a long shot and post on a random website in the hopes of actually meeting you totally romanticmore…

Tao of Travel author Paul Theroux has sought out ten happy hot spots. Check them out here

Paul Theroux is a man after my own heart. Instead of seeking out the trendy on his travels, his quest is to seek out happiness around the globe. Theroux has been hot-footing it around the world and lingering in the places that fill him with joy. These locations are ”places where there’s fulfillment, good food and enough of it, good weather, families intact, and a sense that they don’t have a desire to look for something elsewhere,” the Tao of Travel author recently told USA Today. Can you imagine how easy it would be to live and love in a place where everyone is completely fulfilled by the quality of their lives? Wouldn’t it be refreshing to meet a guy who was totally satisfied with his job and the direction his life was taking, not constantly looking ahead to the next best thing? more…

Never have regrets

The end of the world is a pretty tragic topic for a summer afternoon, I know. But after a recent lengthy discussion with friends about what we would do should the planet go pear-shaped in 2012, I had to face the facts. I wondered, if I’m living on borrowed time, where would I go? What would I do? Would I declare my love for someone? Would you? more…

Sorry girls, if sex was your excuse to eat chocolate, you’ll have to find a new one!

What terrible form of trickery is this? A team of scientists from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada have discovered that chocolate, oysters and wine are not, in fact, nature’s best aphrodisiacs. So what are, and are they easy to find in case you need that extra little bit of help while you’re traveling? more…
