It really can happen anywhere….

Call it what you will — kismet, fate, destiny, divine will, karma, predestination — I believe in it. This is why it’s easier for me to swallow than most, perhaps, that two people actually fell in love over Instagram. more…

Have hope…

Based on my personal experiences, I’ve pooh-poohed the idea that long-distance romance can actually work. However, there are exceptions to every rule. Here is the story of a California boy who fell in love with a Canadian woman. Their love had a happy ending, and yours can, too. Maybe. If you are the exception, that is…

ABC

Who would you date?

I know I tend to write a lot of shizzle about The Bachelor without ever having truly watched it, but that’s because I’m truly fascinated by it. 25 men/women vying for the attention of one ‘Bachelor’ or ‘Bachelorette’, who, by the way, is probably making out with at least half of his or her wannabe loves. In the words of the great Peter Griffin (of Family Guy fame), it really grinds my gears when I see any of these clowns pledge eternal love on a TV show…and give those that have ‘made the cut’ a ROSE of all things to advance to the next round. How trite and corny can you get? These people obviously haven’t heard of Dorothy Parkermore…

Take Jesse Woods’ boy tour of Canada’s eastern coast

We’ve all done the obligatory, traditional romantic getaways. New York, Paris, an all-inclusive resort somewhere hot – but how many of us try and get a little more creative with our vacations? When you start turning over rocks in your search for an unconventional getaway, you’ll see that the rocky coast of  Canada‘s Nova Scotia is inexpensive, comparatively close, and absolutely gorgeous. more…

Kelly Ripa plans on turning this spot into a romantic vacation for two

They may just be the most loved up celebrity couple on the planet, so hearing that Kelly Ripa has her heart set on Banff in Alberta, Canadaas the spot for a sultry second honeymoon with husband Mark Consuelos intrigued me.Why Banff? Why now? And would it be a good spot for singles? I wanted answers — and so, as usual, I investigated. Detective LoveTrekker, on the case. more…

The single gals of Vancouver want men, but say they’re only finding boys

The Grind has a double meaning for the single ladies of Vancouver, Canada. It doesn’t just describe the city’s most popular hiking trial, but has also become a metaphor for its dating scene: daunting, exhausting, semi-natural and unromantic. An article in Vancouver Magazine explains why it is, exactly, that our female friends to the north think that their masculine counterparts quote unquote “suck”. more…

Where to find love — literally — around the world

You all know that “looking for love in all the right places” is my slogan. So I’m going to be straight up with you and say that — while you’ll literally find love on this list, I can’t actually vouch for the quality of menfolk you’ll meet in each town. This is my bid to make nice after hating on Valentine’s Day all week by creating a comprehensive guide to the cities named in the honor of lurv and romance. Now all I need is endless amounts of cash and way bigger cahones to spend a week searching for my life partner in Romance, Oklahoma. more…

Eh? These rules from The Canadian seem just pretty standard to me…

The Ottawa newspaper The Canadian has posted their dating dos and don’ts as specific to Canadians, but I’m not sure how Canadian dating is any different from, say, American dating. I mean, Canadians speak funny (eh?) but then again, so do most Americans. Southerners are downright unintelligible sometimes. That’s not an insult, by the way. I love a good, old Georgian drawl. It’s like honey for my eardrums. But I digress… more…

Lonely Planet says…

Lonely Planet knows what’s up. The travel gurus have long been a fount of knowledge for any trip I’ve chosen to take, so when they say that Paris is passe, I may not agree…but I’ll listen. Their newly released Best in Travel book lists the new spots to find romance around the world, and you best believe I’m going to be booking some trips in the very near future…. more…

The Drive star is my perfect man

I know I usually talk about international dating and feelings, but today I thought I’d try something a little different. I don’t usually dig actors. They’re all so full of themselves and smarmy, a front for hiding their crippling insecurities. And aside from banging on about old “Golden Eyes” Robert Pattinson (I must confess to pining for his Twilight character over the dirty man himself), I don’t get starstruck. Fact. Still, everything I read about Ryan Gosling convinces me that he is “the one.” Why? Read on. And yes, for those that actually do know me, it has a lot to do with his love for Disneyland and addiction to sugar. more…
