Don’t miss out on love…

Obviously, I’m a big believer that love can happen anywhere, at any time.  That’s why I want you to imagine the following scenario. Pretend for a second that you’re a New Yorker waiting for the 6 train and you happen to lock eyes with a handsome stranger across the crowded platform.  You feel a jolt down to your pinky toe (and maybe elsewhere too). But then the moment passes. He gets on the train and you’re still stuck waiting with a sinking feeling in your stomach, wondering what might have been. more…

Most of you know my stance on long-distance romance, but for all you newbies, here it is: it doesn’t work. That said, I’m fully on board with a recent report I read in the New York Post which said that women are leaving the city in droves, seeking out men in the suburbs. The force is strong with these wise women. more…

Weird…and a little kinky

I’m not going to make a blanket statement and say that all the guys in Orange,  Connecticut are kinky sex fiends, but given that the only report I’ve ever heard from one of its residents involved handcuffs and a sex shop, I don’t have much to go on. more…

Want to travel in style like the celebs do? Here’s how!

It’s always seemed pretty goddamn unfair to me that celebrities — who have more moolah than most of us — are constantly gifted with designer freebies when they can afford to pay. But hey, those are the perks of being famous! Check out the gorgeous travel gear that celebs like Nicole Kidman, bestie Naomi Watts, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Trachtenberg and Vanessa Hudgens (above) picked up at the Independent Spirit Awards LG Cinema 3D HDTV Gift Lounge in Santa Monica, Calif. just one day before Oscar Sunday. Yes, you might be pea green with envy — but you also have the option of picking up these luxurious travel togs for yourself…for a price, of course. Sigh. Some girls have all the luck! more…

Bars are the best pick-up spots — but can you ever find romance in addition to a sexual conquest?

It’s a tough old world we live in — a tough old world for dating, that is. In cities like Los Angeles and New York, a good man is seriously hard to find. Sure, we can be set up by our friends (which, in my opinion, is the best way to meet a guy), but here’s the catch: most single gals don’t have a wide range of male buddies. As for our married pals, they must have done something right — they did get the gown, the ring and the guy, after all — but they’re useless when it comes to set-ups. Marrieds tend to stick together, as so singletons. Your bestie’s hubby might have one or two single guys still in his life, but trust me, they’re probably still single for a reason. So what’s a girl to do? Our love lives tend to be pretty dire (I prefer to think of these solitary periods as ‘droughts’) so we need alcohol, clearly. Which puts us at a bar, in the firing distance of many, many men. But do we have a shot of love with a guy we meet at a bar, or are we in for nothing more than a sloppy one-night stand? more…

Streetspark says yes! Can I get someone to take this for a test-drive?

I received an email from my friend Christina today telling me I HAD to write about this new iPhone dating application called Streetspark. Life lesson #1 here: trust your pals. I’m now officially dying to try this app because — tada! — it claims to make dating in your very own city easy as 1, 2, 3. And as many of you know, it isn’t when we’re on vacation that we have problems meeting our match, it’s right here in our home cities… more…
