Remember – romance can bloom in the most unlikely places

Whenever there’s a tale of unusual romance or love blooming in the most unlikely of locales, I’m all ears. But when I haven’t even heard of a nationality, I not only tune in, but yes, admittedly, feel a little stupid. Have you heard of the Bagobo people? Thought not. Yes, we are all philistines for failing to know about those from southern Mindanao, Philippines.  Read on for proof that international love can overcome all…including differences of nationality, culture and language. more…

KLM to introduce an in-flight matchmaking service

Ever since I took my first trip to Europe at the age of 17, I’ve had extraordinary luck with my seatmates. I was on a high school trip with the school’s two foreign language professors (Conrad Beaulieu RIP) and ended up sitting far away from my classmates and next to a hot Swedish male model, who didn’t mind talking to a chubby, earnest, straight-edged teenager for the entire flight. I was in heaven. This is not to say that I end up sitting next to male perfection every single time — I’ve had my share of phot0-sharing grannies and proud new parents, too — but I’ve never been sat next to anyone who smelled bad, drooled on my shoulder or farted in his sleep. In fact, I even dated a South African dude I met on the way home from Miami’s Winter Music Conference in 2010. But I digress. If you never seem to have any luck with meeting men in air, you’re now in luck: KLM is launching an in-flight matchmaking service called Meet & Seat…and no, guys, this does not mean you’ll be guaranteed membership in the Mile High Club. more…

A highly underrated place to meet men

Whenever I think about men and trains, my mind automatically wanders back to that Sex and the City episode, The Big Journey. Carrie Bradshaw is afraid to fly, so she and horny cougar Samantha Jones board a train bound for San Francisco, seduced by a sense of adventure and a serious Strangers on a Train-type fantasy. Their trip doesn’t end quite as they’d planned it — Carrie gets a pimple and Samantha gets shot down by an all-married bachelor party — but that doesn’t mean your mobile love story has to have the same result. more…

He’ll be most likely to have an affair in these seven European cities

I’m sure you’ve all heard the myth that only 1% of all Americans have passports. Maybe we perpetuate this because we feel better about ourselves being in such an elite group of world travelers or because we’re too lazy to Google. But the numbers have changed, people. According to CNN, 30% of us — roughly 308 million Americans — have now joined the international club. I’m not giving y’all too much credit though, as 50% of these passport holders don’t go any further than Mexico or Canada, destinations that didn’t require a passport until 2007. At any rate, that means that only 15% of the entire country travels to Europe. Those rare souls include college students who want to drink underage, cultured elderly folk, single gals on the prowl and businessmen. If your boyfriend/husband happens to fall in the latter category, watch out, particularly if he’s flying to one of these seven countries. Why? These locales have become the de rigueur for clandestine international affairs. more…

Never say never — hope is not lost

Forget Rosalia — my middle name should be ‘late to the party.’ Why? Well, as I was perusing Craigslist last night (ostensibly to help someone find an apartment but also to find myself a beach cruiser) I noticed the ‘Missed Connections’ section. What a brilliant concept! If you’re tripping along as blithely unaware as I was, I’m urging you to read this and pass it along. Don’t you fancy the idea of being someone else’s ‘missed connection’? Isn’t the thought that a guy noticed you enough to take a long shot and post on a random website in the hopes of actually meeting you totally romanticmore…
