I’m pretty sure you won’t be surprised by this (at all), but the act of kissing under a sprig of mistletoe is one of my very favorite Christmas traditions. Yeah, that’s right. My parents have been married for 31 years. Apparently they know a thing or two

My dad and I don’t really talk about love. He likes to see me as the little girl I once was (and still act like, if I’m being honest), and I don’t like to disappoint him with my choices. I have only ever brought one boyfriend home to meet him, and even then I referred to *William, the guy I was completely head over heels for, as a ‘friend.’ Why do I do this? I’m not sure — but if I’m psychoanalyzing myself as my parents (who are both psychologists) might do, I’d say it’s because I hold my father on a pedestal, and want him to be proud of me for not only making smart choices, but having a relationship as strong as his and my mother’s.
