Don’t miss out on love…

Obviously, I’m a big believer that love can happen anywhere, at any time.  That’s why I want you to imagine the following scenario. Pretend for a second that you’re a New Yorker waiting for the 6 train and you happen to lock eyes with a handsome stranger across the crowded platform.  You feel a jolt down to your pinky toe (and maybe elsewhere too). But then the moment passes. He gets on the train and you’re still stuck waiting with a sinking feeling in your stomach, wondering what might have been. more…

Can you say ‘catfish?’

I’m not going to say that Manti Te’o is a big, fat liar (that would be illegal) but I will say that his situation is bizarre and something about his situation smells a little fishy…a little like catfish, you might say. more…

In honor of his re-election, let’s talk about Obama’s love life

I fell in love with Barack Obama the first moment I shook his hand. Before you all go getting scared thinking this is going to turn into a political piece, you can stop your mini-freakout right now. One, I don’t play that way (I even watched the election with a roomful of Obama haters) and two, HELLO, this is LoveTrekker. The only thing time my personal politics get involved is when a guy acts like a dick, and then I – quite democratically, I think – weigh the pros and cons of dumping him.

A must-do if you’re in Oahu

The North Shore of Oahu is known for its laid-back vibe so, unsurprisingly, its nightlife is virtually nonexistent. As I’ve mentioned before, you’ve got little more than restaurants which morph into bars as the evening wears on. Surfer — The Bar is going to change the nighttime vibe in Oahu. It has all the potential in the world for not only becoming a scene as well as a celebrity hotspot (Lindsay Lohan has already been there an it only opened a month ago!) but the spot to meet sexy single surf pros. more…

If you want to know where the surfers are, look no further

For real (no, seriously) Oahu is as close to perfection as you can find on Earth. Although I visited during the winter months, it was still a sultry 85 degrees every single day. Despite the lack of sunshine, there were still breathtaking sunrises, sunsets and rainbows to be had. If you’ve ever watched Lost, you won’t be surprised to learn that the  long-running cult favorite TV show was filmed there…nor will you be surprised that, like Jack and Sawyer, the lost men of Oceanic Flight 815, the male residents of Oahu are equally as beautiful. more…

Tao of Travel author Paul Theroux has sought out ten happy hot spots. Check them out here

Paul Theroux is a man after my own heart. Instead of seeking out the trendy on his travels, his quest is to seek out happiness around the globe. Theroux has been hot-footing it around the world and lingering in the places that fill him with joy. These locations are ”places where there’s fulfillment, good food and enough of it, good weather, families intact, and a sense that they don’t have a desire to look for something elsewhere,” the Tao of Travel author recently told USA Today. Can you imagine how easy it would be to live and love in a place where everyone is completely fulfilled by the quality of their lives? Wouldn’t it be refreshing to meet a guy who was totally satisfied with his job and the direction his life was taking, not constantly looking ahead to the next best thing? more…

Where in America can you get it on in public — and where is it an absolute no-no to show affection?

I don’t know about you, but I’m the  first person to cringe when I see a couple in the midst of a hot-and-heavy PDA session (that’s public display of affection for you plebes) and the first person to be all about indulging in one (with a boyfriend, of course). It’s a good thing then that my latter self lives in California, a state which happens to be A-OK with PDA, according to a survey by Chemistry.com. But where else can you smooch your other half out in the open, and where should you avoid getting handsy with your man? more…

Clearly a guy came up with this list — but it’s worth checking out if you’re into that sort of thing…

Sex and love are not the same thing, so please don’t confuse them. However, love encompasses sex, which is why I thought it was worthy of posting. And really, if you’re a sexual beast (and even if you’re not), it’s best to keep yourself  informed about such things, right? So take a gander at AskMen.com’s list of the top 10 beaches to have sex on. Hey, at the very least, you’ll know where the boys are — and at the worst, you’ll have a sense of what’s most important to men! Just, you know, keep this little adventure clean. These kind of escapades can get dirty…and not in the good way!

Streetspark says yes! Can I get someone to take this for a test-drive?

I received an email from my friend Christina today telling me I HAD to write about this new iPhone dating application called Streetspark. Life lesson #1 here: trust your pals. I’m now officially dying to try this app because — tada! — it claims to make dating in your very own city easy as 1, 2, 3. And as many of you know, it isn’t when we’re on vacation that we have problems meeting our match, it’s right here in our home cities… more…
