If I said I didn’t know how I felt about a new wedding trend, I’d be lying. It’s called the “naked wedding” for a reason, and those saying ‘I do’ do so in their birthday suits. I mean, whatever floats your boat, right? But don’t make your guests watch! more…

Lonely Planet says…

Lonely Planet knows what’s up. The travel gurus have long been a fount of knowledge for any trip I’ve chosen to take, so when they say that Paris is passe, I may not agree…but I’ll listen. Their newly released Best in Travel book lists the new spots to find romance around the world, and you best believe I’m going to be booking some trips in the very near future…. more…

Is this a good idea or are you setting yourself up for failure?

Call me old-fashioned, but there are some traditions that have stuck around for a reason. Sure, nowadays brides and grooms are paying for the weddings themselves as opposed to letting the father of the bride foot the costs, and a bachelorette party doesn’t always have to be wild nights and crazy shenanigans. Stag ‘dos don’t always involve a stripper. Heck, not all brides even wear the fifteen-tier affair wedding dresses (Nancy Shevell, you are fabulous and I love you). For that matter, not all brides marry someone of the opposite sex! But on this point I am holding firm: it is a man’s job to do the asking. It’s brilliant that a New Zealand woman had the guts to orchestrate her own wedding and proposal, but why leave room for disappointment and error?

Speak his language

Kiwi ladies, you are clever, clever girls, and I bow down to you. For those of you who don’t know your ‘Kiwis’ from your ‘Aussies’, I’m actually talking about the women of New Zealand (not the fruit). They’ve figured out what many of us have not: namely, that to score a man, you must speak his language. Ours is love — his is sports. more…

Never have regrets

The end of the world is a pretty tragic topic for a summer afternoon, I know. But after a recent lengthy discussion with friends about what we would do should the planet go pear-shaped in 2012, I had to face the facts. I wondered, if I’m living on borrowed time, where would I go? What would I do? Would I declare my love for someone? Would you? more…

Where in the world should you be on St. Patrick’s Day?

Can you find a match in this seemingly man-friendly Sydney suburb?

It didn’t even occur to me as I blithely sped along with my friends Sally, Michael and Sarah, that I may have been heading to Australia‘s man-meeting epicenter. With a name like Manly, how could this place be anything but perfect for finding guys? So what did I find? Guess you’ll have to read on now, won’t you? more…

Don’t give up hope — one American couple gave me renewed faith that the love you want is out there… somewhere

When I set off on a tour of the Yarra Valley’s wineries this morning, I wasn’t expecting much. Seven hours and 64 Australian wines later, I had renewed faith that the relationship I’m seeking exists…and no, those two elements are not related. Take one American couple, a mutual love of travel and a desire to keep growing as a twosome, and you’ve got the sum of one hell of a great marriage. Intrigued? You should be. more…

This snowy city is a sensational place to meet a man…but heed my warnings before you head to Utah!

Park City is best known for housing Robert Redford‘s annual Sundance Film Festival, but it may go down in my books as one of the top places I’ve been thus far to meet men. But meeting men alone does not a relationship make, and after chatting with some local ladies, I became a little concerned — and here’s why. more…

Streetspark says yes! Can I get someone to take this for a test-drive?

I received an email from my friend Christina today telling me I HAD to write about this new iPhone dating application called Streetspark. Life lesson #1 here: trust your pals. I’m now officially dying to try this app because — tada! — it claims to make dating in your very own city easy as 1, 2, 3. And as many of you know, it isn’t when we’re on vacation that we have problems meeting our match, it’s right here in our home cities… more…
