Don’t miss out on love…

Obviously, I’m a big believer that love can happen anywhere, at any time.  That’s why I want you to imagine the following scenario. Pretend for a second that you’re a New Yorker waiting for the 6 train and you happen to lock eyes with a handsome stranger across the crowded platform.  You feel a jolt down to your pinky toe (and maybe elsewhere too). But then the moment passes. He gets on the train and you’re still stuck waiting with a sinking feeling in your stomach, wondering what might have been. more…

He’s single, ready to mingle and stunning to look at

When Top Chef: Texas premiered last night, I was waiting with bated breath to catch a glimpse of one person in particular. That person, Chris Crary, happens to be a good friend of mine, and I was happy as hell to see his purty face get some screen time. What’s not to love? more…

Match.com surveyed New Yorkers to get a feel for what dating in the Big Apple is really like

Without a survey to back me, I can tell you what dating in New York City is really like, and it sucks. Unfortunately, that kind of information isn’t really going to help you out much. You may agree with me if you live there, but for those of you who are thinking about exploring Manhattan’s dating scene, you might just suspect I’m a Bitter Betty who had a bad sex in the city experience. I’m not. Therefore, this post isn’t going to be about how much I loathe NYC’s singles scene, but about the actual statistics of biting into the Big Apple’s dating pool, courtesy of Match.com. My parents have been married for 31 years. Apparently they know a thing or two

My dad and I don’t really talk about love. He likes to see me as the little girl I once was (and still act like, if I’m being honest), and I don’t like to disappoint him with my choices. I have only ever brought one boyfriend home to meet him, and even then I referred to *William, the guy I was completely head over heels for, as a ‘friend.’ Why do I do this? I’m not sure — but if I’m psychoanalyzing myself as my parents (who are both psychologists) might do, I’d say it’s because I hold my father on a pedestal, and want him to be proud of me for not only making smart choices, but having a relationship as strong as his and my mother’s. Are you pleased, dad? I figured that one out all by myself — no need for Freud this time! more…

Streetspark says yes! Can I get someone to take this for a test-drive?

I received an email from my friend Christina today telling me I HAD to write about this new iPhone dating application called Streetspark. Life lesson #1 here: trust your pals. I’m now officially dying to try this app because — tada! — it claims to make dating in your very own city easy as 1, 2, 3. And as many of you know, it isn’t when we’re on vacation that we have problems meeting our match, it’s right here in our home cities… more…

You think dating in a city is hard? Try being one of the few girls in the U.S. Navy!

When it comes to looking good on a date, we women have a (some would say) unfair advantage over the opposite sex. Using some clever clothing tricks and some REALLY good foundation, we can transform ourselves into goddesses. But what if we DIDN’T have Laura Mercier and an arsenal of discreet Calvin Klein at our disposal? What if we had to look and dress like a GUY every single day?
