I know, I know, I’m like a broken record the way I constantly talk about how love can happen anywhere. But it can, and I’m going to inundate you with proof that I’m right. Just in time for Valentine’s Day (the worst day of the year for anyone, including those happily who are ensconced in relationships or unhappily single), here’s a story of a happy ending that started off on the road. more…

Here’s to hoping you all have someone special to spend the holidays with. Although being with the one you love is the dream of Christmas day, it isn’t always possible…so remember to love the one you’re with, as well. Love comes in many forms, so open your eyes. I’ll leave you with this quote, and wishing for all of you — and myself — that we will feel loved and blessed today.
“ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE” — JOHN LENNON
Every single Christmas, I force myself to put on Love, Actually. Though I actually think it’s a cheesy, cliched, sappy suckfest, I can’t seem to force myself to give it up. What kind of scrooge can resist Jamie (Colin Firth) telling Aurelia (Lucia Moniz), the Portuguese woman he loves but can’t understand because of their language barriers, “It’s my favorite time of day, driving you.” Swoon! I watch because love is a beautiful thing, and a movie that explores that, for all its bad, overwritten moments, should be celebrated. So am I surprised that lonely singletons would rather have romance than a job this holiday season, despite our rocky economy? No. No I am not. Although I don’t personally believe that all you need is love, I’m happy that this sentiment gives others hope. more…

Before I post this piece from TopDatingSites.com, I must beg the question: can you actually learn anything about love from a harlequin romance? I’ve learned a lot about fantasy, barrel-chested men and sex from romance novels, but real love? Eh…not so much. Still, they made Fabio famous, so they must be good for something… more…

I’m peeved. I launched this site in order to help women recognize that their perfect man may not be in their city or even state, but that he does exist somewhere in the world. However, I’ve been one-upped by a site that actually helps men to meet women in other countries. It’s not fair, I tell you. Where in the hell is our site? more…
As of 2008, 18% of all married couples ’round the world had admitted to cheating. I am not even close to being married, so this stat isn’t as important to me as, say, discovering the number of guys who have cheated on their girlfriends might be, but it’s still a fact of life. Call me naive, but I abhor cheating. My moral compass closes at the thought of a person who’s seriously involved sleeping with someone else. So to hear Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s been (happily? Who knows) married to Coldplay’s Chris Martin for nine years saying she condones cheating – despite never having done it herself — well, I kind of want to drop-kick her. Shut your asinine mouth, woman! more…

It’s normal to have a terrible day sometimes, when all you want to do is crawl under the covers with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s, turn your phone off and watch back-to-back episodes of My So-Called Life or Sex & the City until you pass out. However, it is also normal to have three-week stints where nothing goes your way — and that includes your love life. This, my friends, is what happens when the planet Mercury goes retrograde which is why you may have the ‘mean reds’ (as Audrey Hepburn said in Breakfast at Tiffany‘s) right this very second. But what does this mean and how does it affect you? more…
