Where can you avoid feeling sad and alone come February 14?

I’m not one of those people who snarls at loved up couples on Valentine’s Day, nor am I one of those women that needs to go out and get drunk with a gaggle of girlfriends to prove that I’m like, sooooo happy being single. But the way the world makes such a big deal out of this one holiday, I feel like I should be living one particular Bridget Jones’ Diary quote: “I suddenly realized that, unless something changed soon, I was going to live a life where my major relationship was with a bottle of wine and I’d finally diet, fat and alone, and be found three weeks later half-eaten by Alsatians…or I was going to turn into Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.” more…

Relax, I’m not going on an estrogen-filled pity rant. It’s a new show on VH1 – and it rocks

Why am I still single is a question we all ask ourselves at one time or another in our lives. We are catches, dammit. Why is that so hard for certain men to see? Well, a new VH1 reality show professes to have the answer in the form of dating coach and love guru Siggy Flicker. She is the antithesis of Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger, and I love her.

Really moving on means you need to fully let go of your past

I knew that, in writing this piece, every sappy love song ever recorded would annoyingly flit through my mind like an entire Celine Dion album on repeat. You know what that means, friends: this could get ugly for everyone involved. more…

Is he desperate or just really, really optimistic?

One of my favorite songs to listen to in high school was “Desperado” by The Eagles. But then, I kind of was. I had an unrequited crush on the captain of the soccer team and I didn’t even care that he used to Sun-In his hair. Yep, it was that bad. The lyrics to that song came back to haunt me when I read this article about what one British man is doing for love — and how much his quest is costing him. more…

What should — and what shouldn’t — you do on a date? The experts weigh in

I lived in New York City for four years and, as one does from the age of 18 (oh come on, you know the Murray Hill dives barely card!), I frequented my fair amount of bars. So when I saw that NYC bartenders were offering their dating tips on DailyCandy, it didn’t even occur to me that they could be wrong. These cats have seen it — and probably participated — in it all. If you’re in need of some expertise re: what to order, what to say and what not to do, read on! more…

R. Luke Dubois made a series of easy-to-read color-coded maps based on dating profile results. Hope you know your geography!

Better hope you aren’t colorblind, because reading R. Luke Dubois’ candy-colored personality-trait maps will be virtually impossible. The New York-based performer and artist has manufactured 29 maps showing how men and women throughout America describe themselves when it comes to looking for love. His research? Sifting through 19 MILLION dating profiles. Will the results surprise you? They shocked me! more…

Anyone who is anyone will be making their way to Marquee in Sin City — but please, beware of the douchebags who will flock there

You know a club is going to be massive when Jay-Z, Beyonce, Blake Lively, Cameron Diaz, Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez and Jared Leto turn up for its opening. But would you really have expected anything less from nightlife impressarios Louis Abin, Jason Strauss, Marc Packer, Rich Wolf and Noah Tepperberg – the same guys who have managed to keep Marquee one of the longest-lasting nightclubs in NYC? I’d say not. This is why Marquee Las Vegas is destined for greatness — but I, for one, am NOT a fan of the guys that are going to be fighting to hang out there. more…

Love to love…Morocco

Bonjour, lovers! Welcome to Lovetrekker.com — my quest to find the best places for love and romance around the world.
